Thursday (7 July) sees the start of the four-day annual Lord Mayor’s Celebration in Norwich. With a
street procession, fireworks, music festival, funfair, outdoor theatre, cinema, comedy, dancers, street
artists and lots more, it’s the city’s biggest community celebration and there really is something for
everyone. For the sixth year we’ve been proud to design all the publicity material – there’s a taster
below and full programmes and details can be found on the Norwich City Council website.
Norwich Lord Mayor’s Celebration – starts Thursday…!
Five artists, one theatre group and an extraordinary old fort…
As lovers of all things arty we were so pleased to be asked to produce the programme for Landguard
Arts – a summer of art and performance at Landguard Fort, Felixstowe, Suffolk. Taking place from now
until October, five artists will be producing work in response to the fort and the surrounding peninsula.
Each artist will be exhibiting for a month and will hold special workshops where you can find out
more about their work and try some of the techniques used.
In addition, the critically-acclaimed open-air theatre company, The Pantaloons, will give a free
performance of Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales on 25 August.

Just the Job!
We were thrilled to win a competitive pitch to redesign Just Job’s monthly magazine, Just the Job. We retained the existing brand colours and fonts and introduced new colours, a more editorial theme and a more consistent approach to the layout.
As well as the new design we were asked to develop a template which the client could work with for future issues. After presenting our ideas, giant was commissioned to design each issue, and work alongside the Just Jobs guys and editor Pete Goodrum to pull each issue together. And not only that, but it’s being rolled out to Suffolk and Cambridge too…just the job.
Wah Wah 45
Wah Wah 45 is about to celebrate its 11th birthday with a special at The Scala. We were asked to produce
a flyer and promotional material with a hand drawn element that worked with the swirl of the
Wah Wah logo. So we dug out the marker pens and got busy with the scribbles…
After a few tweaks and some last minute line up changes the final version went off to print and is looking
mighty fine. Some exclusive t-shirts will feature the bespoke line-up illustration – and it’s a pretty fine
line up too, featuring The Hackney Colliery Band (who happen to be one of our personal faves at the
moment) and, as if that’s not enough, there’s also The Unabombers, Quantic and The Simonsound,
along with loads more.

Lullaby Concerts for your little ones…
We’ve just had great fun working with Orchestras Live on the promotion of a series of Lullaby Concerts for the
under fives. Played by the City of London Sinfonia, the special concerts will take place in relaxed settings where
the children (and accompanying adults) will be able to sing and dance along to pieces of music with animal
themes. Animal costumes are welcome too…!

Norfolk Black History Month 2010
We’ve just finished our third Norfolk Black History Month Programme – so look out for another packed month
of events across the county this October.
We’d like to say a big thank you to everyone involved behind the scenes at BHM for pulling together this year’s programme of events – they dedicate a large amount of personal time, hard work and late nights to deliver
one of the biggest programmes in the UK.
Rob will be djing at the launch event on Sat 2nd October outside The Forum in Norwich, where you can also
check out the African Market and the Caribbean and African Food Festival between 10am and 5pm.
Also, as part of BHM, Rob’s switching his monthly dj slot at The Rumsey Wells into a BHM cratedigging special – celebrating the sounds of Soul, Funk, Disco, Reggae, Hip Hop and more: Sat 16th October, 8pm-midnight.
And, finally, we’re more than chuffed that the programme’s cover illustration was created by DAN23 for the
third year running. Dan’s work is brilliant – see more on his website at www.dan23.com (plus some previous
bits for the sadly missed Straight No Chaser magazine).

One Year Shop
I think this is an ace idea, Ben Burt, has recently started photographing everything he buys, and plans to continue to do so for one whole year in order to try and work out what he actually spends all his hard earned cash on each week. Check out his blog over at www.oneyearshop.wordpress.com you can also follow the action at www.twitter.com/oneyearshop
